Greubel Forsey It has become something of a small trend to place ultra-expensive, high horology timepieces in sapphire crystal cases And even though these cases can be quite brittle – brittle enough to maybe even want to discourage someone from wearing them, turning them into inevitable safe queens – it has not stopped manufacturers from making them Or well-heeled collectors and connoisseurs from buying them for that matter! The latest timepiece to benefit from this attractive trend is the Greubel Forsey Double Balancier, which contains the watchmakers’ sixth fundamental invention.
This watch model has been around since 2014, with a new version appearing in 2016 (see it in Greubel Forsey’s 2016 SIHH: An Overview Of Watches Presented) Measuring 43 x 13.38 mm in its original white gold case, the dial has been severely cut away so that a great deal of the fascinating movement with its exquisite finishing is on show .
