Unique Lab Grown Diamond Inc recently submitted an intense pinkish-orange CVD synthetic diamond to GIA’s New York facility for testing In its report GIA said this kindof intense pink-orange colour is hard to come by even in natural diamonds, particularly in large sizes The fancy colour, square cut cvd synthetic diamond weighs 501 ct and the intense pinkish orange was said to be distributed evenly.
The clarity of the diamond was observed to be SI1 with a few small feathers and pinpoints seen under the microscope (at about 20x magnification) GIA reported that Infrared absorption spectroscopy revealed this was a type IIa diamond, with nitrogen concentration below the instrument’s detection limit At 3123 cm–1, a clear and sharp peak was detected, a feature commonly present in most CVD synthetic diamonds Usually, CVD-grown diamonds display multiple growth layers causing its significant thickness but this diamond’s fluorescence was devoid of such layers.
