Giambattista Valli Took the Jewelry-As-Makeup Trend to the Next Level

At this afternoon's Giambattista Valli show in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, there was an abundance of florals, assortment of bows, and excess of crystal embellishments The latter of which made for an imaginative display alongside an array of iridescent veiled headpieces and a few sets of gazes encased in Swarovski gems by makeup artist Isamaya Ffrench "It's a continuation of this embellished-eye theme that we've been doing with Giambattista for the last couple of shows," explained Ffrench, who adorned faces with arresting, fresh-from-the-garden blooms last season.

After giving each girl raw, beautiful skin with a "Translucent" application of MAC Studio Fix 24-Hour Smooth Wear Concealer as needed, Ffrench went in with the sparkling jewels, arranging them meticulously around each eye in hyper-extended shapes that ultimately created an eye-mask-like effect as each model strode down the runway "Giambattista picked out these amazing pieces of jewelry that were laid across the eyes," she explained of this season's inspiration It extended all the way down to the delicately bejeweled nails swinging to and fro on the runway: Nail artist Mei Kawajiri brushed on L'Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Vernis A L'Huile polish in sheer pink 114 Nude Demoiselle, before adding different crystal accents.

Her favorite design of all? Fittingly enough for Paris Fashion Week, the crystal French manicure. . Source
