For Behnaz Sarafpour, embroidery has always been part of a fashionable wardrobe Drawn to its artisanal nature, Sarafpour has been incorporating hand-stitched embellishment into her work since her days as a Parsons School of Design student in the mid-'90s An integral part of her brand's DNA, the craft was one of the first things that came to mind when she was ready to create her newly launched range of jewelry: floral earrings rendered in metallic threads with freshwater pearls woven into lightweight forms.
Sarafpour's unique wares are a fresh take on statement jewels "These are incredibly detailed, but you can wear them all day or night without the earrings feeling cumbersome." Lightness serves as a constant within Sarafpour's creative output, and the airy nature of the earrings was inspired by her recent foray into fragrance Where many attempt to make their lower-priced gems an affordable version of existing concepts, Sarafpour was excited by the possibility of pushing the category's boundaries.
"We really focused on new materials," says Sarafpour "I love an approach that isn't limited by existing constraints." With the entire nature of jewelry currently evolving, the designer sees the potential for an influx of fresh ideas. . Source
