For the past four generations and over 100 years, the Bock family tradition has been creating fine jewelry.  Abram opened A. Bock Manufacturing Jeweler in a downtown Dallas storefront in 1948 and started his business repairing jewelry.  As the business grew, Abram began selling diamonds, using his connections in Belgium from before the war. After college, Harry returned to Dallas and worked for other retail jewelry stores until he joined his father’s business in 1955.  Harry learned the jewelry business under his father’s watchful eye and found that he had a special gift for the purchasing and marketing of diamonds.  He made his first buying trip to Belgium in 1962 and helped his father grow his business. Harry took over his father’s business when Abram passed away in 1968. Harry opened the first Bachendorf’s store in 1977 and ran the family business until he passed away in 2010. Harry’s son, Lawrence, carries on the family businesses upholding the Bock family values of loyalty, honesty and quality as their foundation.

Friendships and creative ideas developed while attending Texas Christian University in the 1950’s and gave rise to “Grissom’s and Friends,” an institution which offered a unique experience for all to enjoy. They are proud to reside in their original location at 9524 Camp Bowie West in Fort Worth, Texas. Since their 1997 renovation and expansion of the jewelry store, Grissom’s has been able to offer a greatly expanded list of products and services to their customers. In 1997, they added fine Swiss watch sales and an in house watch and fine clock service center they offer everything from simple battery changes to full restorations. In 1998, they purchased a very expensive and complicated Platinum casting system and added five phone lines. They now offer skilled platinum casting in house another rare service for jewelry stores. Most jewelers just buy catalog platinum mountings or use an outside casting service. In 1999 they added a computer based sales and repair program with a point of sales system helping us track everything from their expansive inventory to customer wish list and our ever-growing repair business. In 2002, they again started offering professional business and award jewelry services for some of Fort Worth’s premier country clubs and business people.
